Centerless Grinding is a precision finishing process for cylindrical metal components where controlled material removal is used to refine the outside diameter and surface condition. At Dipak Sales, centerless grinding is part of our listed manufacturing expertise for customer-specified components.

The process can be used after earlier machining operations when a component requires further dimensional or surface refinement. The final grinding requirement is determined from the customer's drawing, material and specified finished condition.

Centerless Grinding for Cylindrical Components

Unlike grinding methods that hold a component between centers, centerless grinding supports the workpiece through the grinding setup while material is removed from its outside surface. This makes the process particularly relevant to cylindrical parts that require consistent outer dimensions and surface characteristics.

Where Centerless Grinding Fits

  • Outside-diameter finishing of cylindrical components
  • Parts requiring improved dimensional consistency after machining
  • Round components requiring controlled surface refinement
  • Repeat production where batch-to-batch consistency matters
  • Components moving from machining into a final precision-finishing stage

Drawing-Based Requirements

The required diameter, length, surface condition and other critical characteristics should be established from the approved customer drawing. Centerless grinding can then be positioned at the appropriate point in the manufacturing route.

Materials

Dipak Sales documents expertise in ETP copper, aluminium, phosphor bronze, lead-free brass alloys, low-lead brass alloys and copper alloys. Grinding suitability and process selection remain dependent on the specific material and component requirement.

Dimensional Inspection

Our listed inspection equipment includes digital micrometers, vernier calipers, height gauges, depth gauges, dial gauges, bore gauges and digital measuring instruments. These resources support applicable dimensional checks after machining and finishing operations.

Part of Precision Component Manufacturing

Centerless grinding can follow turning or other machining operations and can be combined with finishing, coating or assembly when required by the finished component. Dipak Sales states that its technical team supports complex and mass-production requirements.
